Volodymyr Zelensky called on the citizens of the world to demonstrate against the Russian invasion of Ukraine

Volodymyr Zelensky asked the citizens of the world to demonstrate against the Russian invasion of Ukraine on Wednesday.

“Come with Ukrainian symbols to support Ukraine, to support freedom, to support life,” the Ukrainian president said in a video in which he spoke in English. “Go to its squares, to its streets, make yourself visible and be heard,” he added.

The call of the Ukrainian president comes a day before the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine is one month before the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

In the video, Zelensky urges citizens to “oppose the war as of March 24 (…) and after” to speak out against the bloody conflict.

“Show your position, come from your offices, your homes, your schools and your universities, come in the name of peace,” he continued.

“The world has to stop the war,” he emphasized.

Earlier, the Ukrainian president spoke before the French Parliament. In his message, he told France that “stopping the war is in your hands” and urged him to convince Russia to seek peace and to support Kiev’s desire to join the European Union.

“I would like to ask you a question: How to stop the war? How to establish peace in Ukraine? Because most of the questions and answers are in your hands,” he said in a video intervention before a solemn session of the two chambers.

As he has done in other messages to parliaments in other countries, Zelensky called for European countries to do more to stop the war. “We have looked for reason in the dispatches and we are obliged to look for it on the battlefield,” he regretted. And while he thanked France’s support for Ukraine, he did not fail to emphasize that “French companies must leave Russia” and stop financing the invasion.

He also acknowledged “the continued leadership” of French President Emmanuel Macron in the search for peace, although he urged more international efforts to convince Russia to abandon its offensive and called for more military aid in the face of “the Russian war machine.”

More than three million people have fled Ukraine since the beginning of the conflict, according to the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

For its part, the Office of the Prosecutor General said on Wednesday that Ukraine has already collected almost five thousand evidence of war crimes committed by Russia and submitted by citizens, whose testimony is “invaluable”.

Based on the information provided by the Attorney General’s Office through its Telegram account, Ukrainians have already uploaded a total of 4,935 pieces of evidence to the unified platform warcrimes.gov.ua, Ukrainian agency Ukrinform reported.

Since the creation of this unified platform for the collection of all information on war crimes committed by Russia in Ukraine, “citizens have submitted 4,935 evidence of war crimes and crimes against humanity,” the note notes.

The Attorney General’s Office thanks the citizens for not being “indifferent” and states that “today, every Ukrainian is a valuable witness and, in the near future, a member of a team of accusers of many millions”.

“The whole country joins the collection of evidence of the atrocities of the Russian invaders. The Public Prosecutor’s Office, State and Law Enforcement Agencies, Human Rights and Civil Society Organizations, Experts and Specialists, International Institutions, Journalists and Ordinary Citizens have the potential to act as a united front to document the terrible crimes committed by the aggressor Russian”, he says.

The principle of operation of the platform is simple and allows you to provide information with photos and videos of war crimes that you have witnessed or victimized.

The system guarantees full confidentiality, the protection of personal data and the preservation of evidence.

The Office of the Prosecutor stresses the importance of all evidence being collected “in a qualified manner” and presented “in accordance with internationally recognized standards”.

All information collected will be used in the future by the Office of the Prosecutor General at the International Criminal Court in The Hague, in Ukrainian courts, during possible special international tribunals, as well as by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the UN International Court of Justice and by the Ministry of Justice in the European Court of Human Rights, adds the communiqué.

Ukrinform recalls that Attorney General Irina Venediktova reported that seven countries have already launched an investigation into war crimes committed by Russia in Ukraine.
