On the Facebook page of the municipality of Guadalupe, in Nuevo León, they proposed a very peculiar way of saving water, which caused the followers of the page to react. And it is that on the social network page of that municipality, they proposed that people shave themselves, this as a measure to save water.
On the page, an image was shared where a man without hair, and a woman with long hair, are seen bathing. The bath time will be bought, which, he says, that of a person without hair is 2 minutes, and instead, a person with long hair, takes 4 minutes to bathe, according to the information.
The image reads the phrase: “The less hair, the more I save! There is no excuse.” In addition, they accompanied this image, saying: Let’s continue to take any opportunity to save water!! (sic).
However, they also clarified that it was just a meme, and that they weren’t saying that people had to shave themselves. In addition, in the comments they asked what other unconventional action occurred to the followers of the page to save water.
The publication of the page caused the followers of the page to react. One of the users suggested that: “Better take the water out of ternium instead of saying that we should bathe in less time we are the ones who are contributing more than the companies that want to legally enrich themselves” (sic).
Another user was of the opinion that companies should reduce their water consumption. One more user asked: “Doubt, do companies also have their water cut off or are they suspended?” “Stop granting deforestation permits on cerro de la silla, and allow leaders to stop distributing the hill to so much possessionary,” another user said in the publication.
It was during the first days of February that the government in charge of Samuel García Sepúlveda through its institutions issued a Declaration of Drought Emergency in which it urged the suspension of any activity that required excessive water use. The announcement was made public in the first instance in the publication of the Official State Gazette.
“All activities that by their nature merit the excessive use of water are suspended. All preventive actions must be taken to avoid the operation of hydraulic infrastructure, to help mitigate the effects of lack of water. Given the situation described, it is urgent that the public, social and private sectors, in a solidarity and joint manner, take affirmative action to mitigate the effects of the lack of drinking water in the state,” the government statement reads.
Since then, the official accounts of the National Commission for Water, Water and Drainage Services of Monterrey, as well as that of the government, have been dedicated to promoting measures that the population can implement to reduce the expenditure of liquid, in addition to sending messages that take into account the importance of this.
The actions in the northern entity of Mexico took place within the framework of World Water Day, which is commemorated every March 22, to recall the relevance of this liquid essential.
“Despite the fact that all social and economic activities depend heavily on freshwater supply and quality, 2.2 billion people live without access to safe drinking water. This celebration aims to raise awareness of the global water crisis and the need to seek measures to address it,” writes the official United Nations portal.
