St Etienne secure all 3 points, after a win at the Stade Geoffroy Guichard

St Etienne strolled past Bordeaux with a 4-1 win on Sunday at the Stade Geoffroy Guichard. St Etienne were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run, following a 2-0 victory against Nimes. Bordeaux were beaten 3-2 in the previous match against Strasburg. As it stands, St Etienne are in 13th place on the table and has 39 points while Bordeaux sit in 15th with 36 points after 32 matches.

The Girondins didn’t take long to get on the score-sheet, with a goal from Hwang Ui-Jo at the 9 minute mark. However, they were unable to maintain their lead, Wahbi Khazri managed to equalize and take the sides off, on 19 minutes at 1-1. St Etienne then scored again and turned the match thanks to a effort from Wahbi Khazri, 23 minutes in. The score at half time was 2-1.

The Greens continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Wahbi Khazri finding the net again, on 71 minutes. However they weren’t finished yet and Zaydou Youssouf made it 4-1, 81 minutes in with a final score of 4-1.

For St Etienne, Zaydou Youssouf, Arnaud Nordin, Charles Abi, Aimen Moueffek and Kevin Monnet-Paquet, came on for Mehdi Zerkane, Remi Oudin and Jean Seri. Bordeaux replaced Nicolas De Preville, Hatem Ben Arfa and Jimmy Briand with Mehdi Zerkane, Remi Oudin and Jean Seri.

The referee booked Yvan Neyou, Denis Bouanga and Harold Moukoudi for St Etienne.

St Etienne will next travel to PSG, while Bordeaux will face Monaco at home.
