Manchester United fell to a home defeat at the hands of Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford on Monday. Man U had been hopeful of continuing their run, following a 3-1 victory against Burnley. Wolves, on the other hand, had managed to pick up a single point in their encounter with Chelsea. After today’s result, Man U and Wolves are 7th, (31 points) and 8th, (28 points), in the table respectively, after 21 matches.
After an un-eventful first half, Wolves continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Joao Moutinho in the 82nd minute, leaving the final score at 1-0.
Man U brought on Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Elanga for Mason Greenwood, Jadon Sancho and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Wolves brought on Adama Traore, Fabio Silva and Leander Dendoncker, to replace Trincao, Raul Jimenez and Daniel Podence.
There were bookings for Scott Mctominay, Luke Shaw and Nemanja Matic from Man U. For Wolves, Jose Sa saw yellow.
Man U will play away against Aston Villa, while Wolves will face Southampton at home.
